CREMATION SERVICES

/media/brickmanbros/dividing-line.png

Many people believe a funeral with cremation is easier and less expensive than a traditional burial. Over the years, State of Ohio regulations and laws governing funerals and cremations increased. Most of them deal with cremation. Cremation is no longer simple and options can be limitless. Families have more choices to make regarding type of cremation service and when and where services can take place.

Traditional cremation
Typically families choose a combination of a traditional funeral and cremation service. Families have visitation / viewing with the deceased present in a casket. An option of having a service is given and cremation follows. This allows family and friends to come to the funeral home offer sympathy and support while acknowledging and celebrating a life. Placement of the cremated remains in a cemetery would occur at a later time or they may be kept at home.

Cremation Followed by Services
This type of service occurs once cremation is finished. A visitation and funeral service can take place with the cremated remains present in an urn. Burial of the cremated remains may even follow the service making it seem very much like a traditional burial but without a casket. Scheduling for this type of service may be delayed because of regulations regarding cremation.

Funerals with cremation may include the following:

Funeral Home Services and Merchandise
• Basic services of funeral director and staff
Embalming, dressing, cosmetology, or basic preparation of decedent
Use of facilities and staff for viewing/service
Local transfer of remains from place of death and transfer of remains to crematory

Cremation without services

This is commonly referred to as a direct cremation. Families that choose this option may wish to have a memorial service at a later date and place other than the funeral home. They may opt to have no memorial service at all.

Direct cremations would include:

Basic services of funeral director and staff
Basic preparation and identification of decedent
Local transfer of remains from place of death and transfer of remains to crematory

Crematory fee

Minimum fiberboard cremation container

State cremation / burial permit

Optional items

Urn or vault for cremated remains

Whether choosing a traditional type of service with cremation, a cremation without services or a combination of the two, it is important to talk with all family members and the funeral director in deciding what type of cremation service is suitable for you. State laws may be a factor in your choice of the type cremation service you select. The laws are as follows:

OUT OF TOWN DEATHS & SHIPPING SERVICES

/media/brickmanbros/dividing-line.png

A death can occur at anytime and anywhere. Most of the time a funeral home at the final destination or pace of disposition can handle all aspects of the funeral including arranging for the decedent to be prepared and transported back to that location within the United States. Please call the funeral home regarding questions concerning these matters. Travel arrangements, weather conditions and local laws where the death occurred may result in a delay for the service. A funeral should not be scheduled until the deceased has arrived in the town of where the services will take place.

We at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home can answer many of the questions one may have regarding, traditional, cremation, or shipping services.
